Agave Studio Explains Why This Is The Time To Update Your Squarespace Site

Squarespace 7.1 is packed with features to help you build and maintain the website of your dreams

What’s new is most of the time always better, and that is no exception when it comes to Squarespace 7.1. With it’s updated features and design, Squarespace 7.1 has made building a website even easier than it was before. The Squarespace design and development experts at Agave Studio explain why you should make the switch even if it means losing a few things.

Updated Design Interface

Squarespace 7.1 comes packed with new bells and whistles to help you design the website of your dreams. The best of these is the new “Site Styles” section within the “Design” tab. With a little bit of a learning curve from version 7.0, the “Site Styles” area allows you to set global colors and typefaces with a few clicks. Take it from us, it’s way easier than having to manually set all your site typefaces and colors in the previous “Site Design” iteration.

Other things that are super helpful when you’re designing:

  • Page sections (every page is an index now!)

  • New paragraph sizes for text and a new H4 (heading 4) heading

  • Set global button and image block sizes and styles

Updated Templates

One of the other major updates in 7.1 is that every single template comes with the same features as the others. If you’re an experienced designer, like the ones at Agave Studio, you can select one template and make it look like another. Otherwise, if you’re starting your own website, it helps to select a template that displays the information that is most important right off the bat.

Squarespace Commerce

Squarespace continues to improve their commerce features and the update to Squarespace 7.1 is no exception. One of the biggest additions to commerce in 7.1 is the ability to add sub-categories. This means you can categorize items so that your potential customers could shop by scent and then shop by ingredient in a different category.

A few other cool updates for commerce in 7.1:

  • You can add up to 10,000 products to stores now

  • Product waitlists are available on all plans

  • Add additional sections to the store page for say… featured products

We’ll cover all of the updates to the Squarespace Commerce platform in a future blog post!

Other improvements

  • Page templates for really any content you need to display

  • Portfolio pages to display visual work

  • You can change the background color of any section

While we obviously can’t cover all the amazing new features in Squarespace 7.1, one thing is for sure: updating will give your site a refreshed look without a ton of effort. If you’re building a new site, Squarespace 7.1 comes standard on all new Squarespace sites. We’ll have a guide on how to get started with it coming soon!
