Incredible Content Buried in an Outdated Site
Kelsey behind HelloKelC has built something special — a Colorado food blog packed with restaurant recommendations, city guides, recipes, and beautiful photography. The content is there. The photography is stunning. The problem was the website itself.
The old Squarespace 7.0 site had become difficult to navigate. Readers couldn't easily find what they were looking for, categories were a mess, and the design didn't do justice to Kelsey's photography. Amazing content was getting buried, and the site felt dated compared to the quality of the work.
It was time for a refresh that matched the content.
Letting the Content Shine
We redesigned HelloKelC on Squarespace 7.1, creating a modern, easy-to-navigate experience that puts Kelsey's content and photography front and center.
Key elements of the project included:
Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1 migration — We rebuilt the site on 7.1, giving Kelsey access to modern features, better performance, and a more flexible editing experience for managing a content-heavy blog.
Universal Filter for the blog — Food blogs can get overwhelming fast. We implemented Universal Filter with new categories and tags, making it simple for readers to browse by cuisine, city, or content type. Finding that Denver brunch spot or Boulder coffee guide is now effortless.
Custom city guide portfolio — Kelsey's city food guides are some of her most valuable content. We created a dedicated portfolio section to showcase these guides prominently, so readers exploring a new Colorado town can find her recommendations quickly.
Photography-forward design — The new design gives Kelsey's images room to breathe. Larger photos, cleaner layouts, and a modern aesthetic let the visual content do what it does best.
Improved navigation — We restructured the site architecture so readers can find what they want in seconds — whether that's a recipe, a restaurant recommendation, or a full city guide.
The Result
HelloKelC now has a website that matches the quality of the content. Readers can explore restaurant guides, browse recipes, and discover new favorites without getting lost. Kelsey's photography finally has the stage it deserves, and the site is ready to grow with her.
