Get To Side-Hustlin’ with Squarespace & Agave Studio

WE all could use a little extra cash, no matter what your side hustle is, Agave Studio can help your dream come true

So you have this idea right? Maybe it’s a hobby you’ve finally decided is ready for the big screen, or you just need a creative outlet to get your juices flowing. Whatever it is, it’s so important to make sure you have the right website and branding to turn your side hustle into your main hustle. Take a look below to check out some tips on getting your side hustle started, plus a special little treat from Agave Studio to all the side hustlers out there.

Without further ado… a few tips from some seasoned side-hustlers:

1: Set Some goals!

Side hustling can be tough and won’t always come easy. If you have some attainable goals to reach for, you’ll be able to push through those tougher situations since you know they’ll be helping you reach your goal. These goals can be monetary based, customer based or even reaching a certain number of followers on social media. Whatever your goals are, make sure they follow the SMART Goals Criteria. This criteria was developed by Peter Drucker and SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. One good example would be, “I want to reach 1000 email subscribers to my newsletter in 6 months,” this is a specific goal that you can measure and is also time-bound.

What’re you waiting for? Get those goals written down.

2. Having trouble launching? Set milestones that will get you there.

Getting started is the hardest part. Building off setting goals, setting milestones can help you break getting your side hustle started into bite sized pieces. First off, start by creating a list of all your milestone. These can be from getting a LLC filed to buying a desk to work from or getting a website set up, (by the way we can help with that). What’s holding you back? When you complete a milestone, give yourself a high-five and move on to the next one. Before you know it, you’ll be ready for your first customer.

What helped Agave Studio’s owner Clinton get started? Having an accountability buddy to talk things out with. This really takes the stress out of it. Also, having a business consultant can immensely help as well. We’re happy to refer you over to our consultant, just give us a shout.

3. Give Yourself some Grace!

This is going to be a shorter one, but it’s a little self-explanatory. Starting a side hustle while you’re working a full-time job can be a lot, but it shouldn’t deter you. This is something that should be fun and inspiring. Taking breaks when you need them is more than okay and definitely don’t let late nights working on your side hustle affect your main job.

4. Have a Dedicated work space

Separating your home life from work life is hard. The COVID-19 pandemic has gotten the majority of the population used to working from and creating a space for work activities; but we can’t reiterate enough how important it is to have a dedicated work space. This space could be a desk in your living room if you’re living in a smaller space, or if you’re lucky enough to have a spare bedroom that’s even better. As long as you’re able to detach and focus on your passion. Working at the kitchen counter or dining room table might seem tempting, but having a dedicated area for your side hustle will ensure you’re productive and focused.

Our tip for your workspace? Bring in inspiring artwork and some plants to elevate the space. Studies have shown having plants on your desk can decrease stress and increase focus. Also who doesn’t love a little friend on their desk to take care of?

5. Have a solid marketing plan

Your side hustle isn’t a “built it and they will come situation.” Starting your business of with word-of-mouth is a great way to get things rolling. We would recommend focusing on marketing tools like social media and content marketing as you’re getting started to keep your costs low. Social media and things like a blog are powerful when used in the right ways to get your side hustle seen. If you’re making something physical, consider blogging about your process in making your product. This will get people interested and also provides a level of transparency and authenticity that people crave. Accompany this by posting a short video on Instagram of your process to drive traffic to your Squarespace website.

Of course, having a brand and marketing consultant in your corner can do wonders, and Agave Studio is here to help when you’re ready.
