Rawr! That’s all we can think of to describe the new brand identity for the Fort Collins based wildlife photographer Jackson Nicholls. After a trip to Africa, Jackson was so inspired by the wildlife there he decided to incorporate it into his new brand and logo for his photography business. The brand team over at Agave couldn’t wait to get started on this savage logo.

The Brief

Jackson came to us right after his photography trip to Africa and wanted a brand that would reflect his wonder for all things nature. We discussed using some sort of leopard or other big cat as an illustration, and making the logo something that would look cool on merchandise at some point in the future. After getting the design brief from Jackson, we got to work here at Agave on some logo concepts for the photographer.

The Result

The result is a gorgeous logo that reflects Jackson’s love of nature and wildlife plus the main focus of his photography. Using the illustrative leopard motif designed in-house at Agave Studio as a focal point, the logo creates a wild feeling that wants you to explore Jackson’s photography. The color scheme was taken from a leopard and the typography was inspired by vintage jungle advertisements, but with a modern twist. Last but not least, the addition of the lightning bolds to represent a camera flash around the leopard face was the icing on the cake to bring the logo full circle.
